Dermal elastic fibers are produced almost exclusively during early childhood and are mostly composed of elastin that is solely responsible for the normal elasticity of skin.  Both normal aging and environmental factors, such as sunlight, contribute to the steady degradation of dermal elastic fibers that cannot be repaired or replaced in adult human skin.  This ultimately contributes to the irreversible loss of elasticity and formation of fine lines and wrinkles.  This is caused, in part, because adult skin cells (fibroblasts) can no longer produce elastin as opposed to collagen that is normally replaced every 190 days. Forticelle™ peptides provide the solution to this problem by helping to stimulate restoration of elastin and elastic fibers.
